Poisoned.

Starting in November, the quietly updated terms and conditions of this platform will allow Meta to scrape all images from business accounts AND the websites they link to train their AI models.

For artists in the US there is no way to opt out. It’s blackmail on an enormous scale for small businesses - either give us all of your hard earned work for free, or lose the platform you’ve relied on to run your business.

Unfortunately until a better platform exists where artists can connect with their clients and each other, I am in many ways at the mercy of this system and the greed of the technologarchs.

But I won’t comply quietly. Many of my posts have images that have been poisoned using the Foxglove software. It’s a free app and it corrupts the data in a photo to train AI incorrectly, while still making the image appear as it’s intended for humans to see.

I know the AI models will eventually figure out ways around the poisoning, but for now it seems worth it to gum up the gears in any way I can.

Tattooing has been and will always be fundamentally human. For me, there is no place for AI in my craft.

Word of mouth and referrals will always be the lifeblood of tattooing. I am forever thankful to all of you for returning to my chair and shouting about me from the rooftops.

I will be reposting many of my old photos in the coming weeks to ensure every one of them is poisoned. After all, poison has historically been a woman’s weapon.
